WELCOME
Makana Beach Cottage is an elegantly simple house in Salvo, on North Carolina's Outer Banks. For 30 years, it was a year-round home, so you'll live like a local, Hatteras style.

Ideal for romantic getaways, solitary retreats and small families, Makana feels spacious while maintaining intimacy. Located on a sound side street, it offers close access to Hatteras Island's natural wonders. A well-appointed cottage with comforts of home (plus a covered porch), Makana invites you to unwind and relax.
THE SPACE
Built by one of the first surfers who migrated here in the 1970s, this cozy cottage was expanded and remodeled into a charming escape. Beautiful woodwork, natural lighting and simple comfortable furnishings create an aesthetic that allows your mind and body to unwind.

The main gathering area is largely open with well-equipped kitchen, living and dining area with cathedral ceilings.
There is one private bedroom and an open sleeping loft. Stairs to the loft are a bit steep, but the skylight creates a open and natural feel. The ceiling is low in the loft, so watch your head!

There is a a separate reading nook. A deep covered porch, complete with sofa and rocker, runs the length of the house, allowing you to live indoors or out.

A lovely yard with large live oaks, native plants and natural visitors invites you to enjoy more than just the beach. Just sit back, and soak it all in. Also outside, a luxurious private shower helps you rinse off the beach and enjoy the freedom of outdoor bathing.

The open loft is furnished with a queen size bed & the private, first floor bedroom has a double.

A lovely yard with large live oaks, native plants and natural visitors invites you to enjoy more than just the beach.
Linens
Sheets, blankets, pillows, towels & beach towels are provided. Additionally, there is a washer & dryer for your convenience.

A luxurious private shower helps you rinse off the beach and enjoy the freedom of outdoor bathing.
